TradePub has a free book summary of “In Search of the Obvious” by author Jack Trout. In his book, Trout explains marketing to both insiders and the general public. Also included is the e-newsletter “Executive Book Alert”.
In this book, marketing guru Jack Trout clears up the confusion that surrounds the marketing profession. Instead of focusing on segmentation or customer retention or search engine optimization or data mining, marketers should be searching for that simple, obvious differentiating idea. Marketers not looking for the obvious had better have a very low price.
Trout writes about real-life brand examples to bring the positioning principles to life for marketers. But you don’t need to be in marketing to appreciate his invaluably obvious thinking.

Have you ever wondered where the freshest, most recent freebie offers and deals are hiding? Many of them are being talked about on Twitter.
In case you have been living in a cave for the last six months, Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to subscribers (known as followers).
Twimme grabs tweets from Twitter with keywords such as free, freebie, contest, giveaway etc. and dynamically updates them on the home page for you to sift through.
Although this is a great idea, as it stands now, too many of the posts are irrelevant. Just because someone tweets about a great deal doesn’t mean they will link to it or provide specific information you need to act on it. Often tweets are too short to do this. Additionally, is no way to filter the quality of the offers and the tweets.
One great thing about it is you don’t have to do any surfing at all to find deals. You can passively sit there and wait until you see a post that grabs your interest. When one does, you can press the pause button. It is a great feature, since the results it generates move quickly.
If you don’t mind searching for that hidden gem, Twimme is capable of getting you up to speed on some great offers.

Raising a family in the United States is more than just tough, it is expensive. New moms are cutting short maternity leaves, while parents are logging more hours at work. Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know that the stock market decline has been to topic of conversation on every news station, newspaper and blog. Savings and retirement accounts are losing value.
With the economy at an all time low, parents are cutting their budgets, clipping coupons, bargain hunting and looking for freebie offers online.
Major manufactures are more than willing to give away free samples. It is good for business since many are happy with the trial, and new customers are gained. Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, Gerber and Pampers are all known to give away free stuff.
I scoured the web and found the five very best freebie offers fit for moms. These offers will not be around for long so be sure to take advantage of them while they last.
Free Stuff for Parents:
Free Swiffer Sweeper
Control Top Pantyhose - Buy 1 get 1 Free
$500 Baby Gap Card
$250 Grocery Gift Card
Free Year Supply of Diapers
